As a company operating both as a destination management company (DMC) in Réunion Island and as a travel agency serving Réunion residents, Mille Tours recognizes its responsibility in promoting more sustainable tourism.

Every day, we work with travellers, partner travel agencies, airlines, accommodation providers, transport companies, guides, restaurants, activity providers and tourism institutions. Through our choices and recommendations, we can help reduce the negative impacts of tourism while enhancing its positive contribution to local communities and destinations.

Management is committed to integrating the principles of sustainable development into all company activities, in accordance with the requirements of the Travelife certification, and to continuously improving our sustainability performance.

1. Governance and Compliance

We are committed to:

  • appointing a Sustainability / CSR Coordinator;
  • implementing an annual action plan with measurable objectives;
  • complying with all legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our activities;
  • regularly monitoring our environmental, social and economic performance;
  • communicating our Sustainable Development Policy to our employees, partners and customers.

2. Social Policy and Human Rights

We are committed to:

  • providing a respectful, safe and inclusive working environment;
  • applying a policy of equal opportunities and non-discrimination;
  • complying with French labour legislation;
  • promoting continuous training and professional development;
  • ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our employees;
  • promoting respect for human rights throughout our supply chain.

3. Environmental Management

Within our offices, we are committed to:

  • reducing paper consumption through digitalisation;
  • reducing water and electricity consumption;
  • separating and recycling waste;
  • giving preference to responsible purchasing whenever possible;
  • reducing the use of single-use plastics;
  • raising staff awareness of environmentally responsible practices.

We also encourage remote meetings whenever they help avoid unnecessary travel.

4. Our Suppliers and Partners

We give preference to partners who share our sustainability commitments.
We are committed to:

  • maintaining an up-to-date assessment of the sustainability practices of our key suppliers;
  • favouring local businesses whenever they meet our quality standards;
  • giving preference to accommodation providers holding recognised environmental certifications (Green Key, EU Ecolabel, Travelife or equivalent);
  • progressively integrating CSR criteria into our supplier selection process and contractual agreements.

5. Transport

For both our incoming tourism activities and outbound travel services, we are committed to:

  • recommending the most appropriate transport solutions by considering their environmental impact, customer comfort and budget;
  • encouraging the use of shared or collective transport for transfers and excursions whenever appropriate;
  • working with transport providers that comply with all applicable regulations.

6. Accommodation

We promote responsible accommodation options.
Whenever possible, we give preference to:

  • locally owned and managed establishments;
  • accommodation providers engaged in environmental management;
  • certified establishments (Green Key, EU Ecolabel, Travelife or equivalent);
  • partners that respect labour rights and social legislation.

7. Excursions and Activities

We select activities that:

  • respect local communities;
  • protect natural environments;
  • promote the cultural heritage of Réunion Island and the destinations visited;
  • exclude any activity that harms animal welfare or encourages the trade of protected species;
  • contribute to local economic development.

We also encourage our customers to adopt responsible behaviour throughout their stay.

8. Guides, Tour Leaders and Local Service Providers

Whenever possible, we work with local professionals.
We ensure that our partners:

  • are aware of our sustainable tourism commitments;
  • inform travellers about responsible behaviour at natural and cultural sites;
  • comply with applicable safety regulations and labour standards.

For our Destination Management (Incoming) Activities

We contribute to promoting sustainable tourism in Réunion Island by:

  • supporting local businesses;
  • encouraging the discovery of the island's natural and cultural heritage;
  • supporting biodiversity conservation initiatives;
  • raising visitors' awareness of the importance of respecting local communities and natural environments.

For our Travel Agency (Outbound) Activities

We encourage our customers to:

  • choose suppliers committed to responsible tourism;
  • respect the local cultures of the destinations they visit
  • minimise their environmental impact while travelling;
  • behave responsibly towards local communities and biodiversity.

10. Customer Information and Protection

We are committed to:

  • providing clear, transparent and accurate information about our services;
  • promoting, whenever possible, accommodation providers and activities committed to sustainable practices;
  • informing customers about responsible behaviour before and during their trip;
  • protecting customers' personal data;
  • maintaining a customer complaints procedure;
  • regularly measuring customer satisfaction in order to continuously improve our services.

Continuous Improvement

This policy is endorsed by the Management and implemented by all employees.

It is reviewed annually to reflect developments in our business activities, the expectations of our customers and partners, and the evolving requirements of the Travelife certification.
